Lightning Strike Kills Two Soccer Players

July 16, 2012 by John Oliver

Two soccer players in Houston were killed yesterday and another was injured after lightning struck a tree they were taking cover under. According to early reports, a soccer match was postponed because of an incoming storm so all of the players took cover under nearby trees.

On the same day in Canada a lightning strike injured 17 people at a festival. No body was seriously injured, but several people reported severe pain as the electricity went through their bodies.

If only these people had better information regarding lightning strikes the soccer players might still be alive and the people injured in Canada may not have had such a close call.
